Position Overview
Working for a world‑class leader in building structures and bridges, a Schuff Steel Team Leader brings expertise and knowledge in steel materials to supervise and coordinate production employees performing fabrication of raw materials and parts. Must have experience with crane, rigging and forklifts to manage and move steel material as needed.
Core Responsibilities- Ensures that production staff adheres to all applicable safety standards through training and accountability.
- Provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership while directly supervising production staff to meet established production and quality standards.
- Provides the team with the vision of the project objectives.
- Provides motivation and accountability to the team.
- Is responsible for providing training to production staff as needed.
- Holds employees accountable to established production and quality standards.
- Encourages constant improvement and leads by example.
- Adheres to and follows all safety rules and PPE requirements.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least three (3) years of directly related experience. Completion of a closely related vocational training course may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses- Equipment Knowledge & Skills – knowledge of welding and steel‑working process and equipment, including cranes, rigging and forklifts.
- Language Skills – ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical Skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Reasoning Ability – understanding of safe and proper operation of common machinery in a steel fabrication environment; application of common sense to carry out written, oral or diagrammatic instructions; ability to solve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
