Inspector Job Description
The Inspector performs in-line quality inspections on ESS Link products during manufacturing, closely monitoring production processes and identifying abnormalities, defects, and deviations from established standards. This role supports containment and initial response activities for quality issues identified on the shop floor and documents inspection results, issues, and observations using standardized checklists. The position involves working approximately 70% indoors and 30% outdoors, including in hot weather conditions, and requires regular collaboration with production teams to ensure consistent product quality and efficient operations.
Responsibilities- Perform in-line quality inspections on ESS Link products during manufacturing to ensure they meet established standards and specifications.
- Monitor production processes to detect abnormalities, defects, and deviations from quality requirements in real time.
- Support containment and initial response activities when quality issues arise on the shop floor, helping to prevent further defects and disruptions.
- Document inspection results, issues, and observations using checklists and other standardized documentation tools.
- Receive and assist with unloading incoming battery shipments in a safe and efficient manner.
- Unbox battery packs and organize materials onto pallets for production use.
- Sort and stage materials in an orderly and organized manner to support assembly operations and maintain production flow.
- Transport batteries and components from packaging areas to designated production lines using appropriate equipment and safe handling practices.
- Ensure materials are readily available at the production lines to maintain consistent workflow and production efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with safety standards and workplace procedures.
- Work both indoors and outdoors, including in hot conditions, while following all safety guidelines and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to communicate issues, share observations, and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Upon conversion to full-time employment, participate in cross-training to support multiple areas of production, including assembly and operation of production equipment.
- Ability to perform detailed in-line quality inspections and identify abnormalities, defects, and deviations from standards.
- Capability to monitor production processes and respond quickly to quality issues on the shop floor.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform repetitive assembly and production-related tasks safely and efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills to sort, stage, and manage materials for production use.
- Ability to receive, unbox, and handle battery packs and components safely.
- Competence in documenting inspection results, issues, and observations using checklists.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, including in hot weather conditions.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Willingness to work a rotating 2-3-2 schedule on an overnight shift.
Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in expanding skills through cross-training in multiple areas of production upon conversion to full-time employment.
- Willingness to learn assembly of battery energy storage units (BESS).
- Openness to training on the operation of production machinery and equipment.
- Interest in understanding full production line processes from material receipt to final production stages.
- Willingness to learn how to prepare assembled units for testing and final production stages.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production and quality team.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality issues.
