The Filler Operator has a primary responsibility to run and maintain fillers and other related equipment. (S) he operates continuous flow equipment to process milk, cream, and other beverage products, following specified methods and formulas. (S) he is responsible for quality, food safety and product specifications.
Follow all required work safe practices, including compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Essential Duties- Clean, set‑up, operate and monitor equipment of the production line.
- Operate ingredients distribution feeder.
- Complete scheduled quality checks.
- Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of product.
- Adjust filler timing and filling as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
- Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced.
- Perform filler and filler line changeovers.
- Complete cleaning checklist once line has completed run.
- Prepare equipment for next run to include size changes as needed.
- Maintain communication with other departments, management and associates and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
- Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot while assisting in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
- Responsible for food safety, pre‑requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
- Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
- Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
- Follow Quality Assurance standards and collect required samples, as needed, for Quality Assurance testing.
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
- Follow all required work safe practices, including compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, wearing required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3+ months experience in manufacturing, dairy or another related field preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to communicate when necessary to complete duties.
- Ability to work in a cold and wet environment for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to work in various temperature‑controlled zones ranging from cold to hot.
- Demonstrated a mechanical aptitude and can work and maneuver in tight and awkward areas and positions.
- Ability to operate equipment at recommended speeds and communicate mechanical and operational defects as they arise.
- Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to frequently reach up to 31‑77 inches.
- Regularly stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl.
- Ability to reach and handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Occasionally sit and occasionally climb ladders or work on a platform.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
