Position Summary

The CNC Mill Machinist is responsible for operating CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. This position requires hands-on machine operation, in-process inspections, documentation for traceability, basic machine maintenance, and adherence to ISO 9000 quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple CNC milling machines to meet daily production requirements and schedules.
  • Perform machine setup changes, including tooling replacements, offset adjustments, and basic program modifications.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and Gear CMM equipment.
  • Verify parts meet blueprint specifications, GD&T requirements, and quality standards.
  • Record inspection results and production data accurately to maintain traceability.
  • Replace cutting tools and inserts to ensure consistent part quality and machine efficiency.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance activities.
  • Identify and report quality, equipment, or production issues to supervision.
  • Follow all safety procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
  • Support and comply with ISO 9000 quality management system requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production and traceability documentation.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC machining equipment.
  • CNC milling experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform machine setup changes, tooling adjustments, offset corrections, and basic program modifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills related to machining processes.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred

  • Experience manufacturing precision-machined components.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment.
  • Experience working within ISO 9000 or similar quality systems.
  • Knowledge of production documentation and part traceability requirements.
  • Experience operating multiple machines simultaneously.
