CNC Lathe Operator
This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes to produce precision-machined plastic components. You'll work with engineering plastics, interpret technical drawings, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards in a safe, organized environment.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine plastic parts per drawings and work instructions
- Select proper tools, feeds, and speeds for various plastics to optimize quality and efficiency
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and GD&T
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accuracy
- Perform deburring, finishing, and basic machine maintenance
- Adjust offsets, change tools, and troubleshoot machining issues to maintain quality
- Document production and inspection data and report nonconformances
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety procedures
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes
- 2+ years of lathe experience (CNC preferred; plastic machining a plus)
- Ability to read blueprints and GD&T
- Experience with precision measuring tools
- Strong understanding of machining quality standards and shop safety
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to ~50 lbs
- Experience with tight-tolerance, high-mix plastic machining
- Familiarity with CNC controls (Haas experience a plus)
- Technical or vocational training in machining
- Experience in deburring/finishing and program or parameter adjustments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
