CNC Lathe Operator

This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes to produce precision-machined plastic components. You'll work with engineering plastics, interpret technical drawings, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards in a safe, organized environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine plastic parts per drawings and work instructions
  • Select proper tools, feeds, and speeds for various plastics to optimize quality and efficiency
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and GD&T
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accuracy
  • Perform deburring, finishing, and basic machine maintenance
  • Adjust offsets, change tools, and troubleshoot machining issues to maintain quality
  • Document production and inspection data and report nonconformances
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes
Required Skills & Experience
  • 2+ years of lathe experience (CNC preferred; plastic machining a plus)
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T
  • Experience with precision measuring tools
  • Strong understanding of machining quality standards and shop safety
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to ~50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with tight-tolerance, high-mix plastic machining
  • Familiarity with CNC controls (Haas experience a plus)
  • Technical or vocational training in machining
  • Experience in deburring/finishing and program or parameter adjustments
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
