CNC Machine Operator

The CNC Machine Operator sets up and operates CNC and manual machines to manufacture precision gears and components while meeting strict quality and production standards. This role involves hands-on machine operation, in-process inspection, accurate documentation for traceability, and consistent adherence to ISO 9000 quality system procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Operate multiple CNC and manual machines simultaneously to produce components according to production schedules.
  • Set up machines by adjusting tooling, offsets, and basic program parameters to meet job specifications.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safe operation.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and gear CMM equipment to verify part dimensions.
  • Record inspection results accurately in production and quality logs to maintain complete documentation.
  • Ensure all parts meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements before release.
  • Replace cutting tools and inserts as needed to maintain machining quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Maintain complete and accurate traceability records for all produced parts in accordance with company and ISO requirements.
  • Follow all safety requirements and use proper safety practices while working around machinery and equipment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions at all times.
  • Comply with ISO 9000 quality management system requirements during all machining and inspection activities.
  • Identify and report any quality or production issues to supervisors promptly to support continuous improvement.
  • Apply 5S principles to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating CNC or similar machining equipment.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC machines and related machining equipment in a production environment.
  • Experience machining precision components, preferably gear-related parts.
  • Ability to perform machine setup changes, including tooling changes, offset adjustments, and basic program edits.
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production targets.
  • Ability to lift loads up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience working within ISO 9000 or similar quality management systems.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for machining processes, including identifying and correcting minor issues.
  • Comfort working with standard inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and gear CMM.

Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Experience with manual machining, including lathe and other conventional machine tools.
  • Previous experience in machining precision components, particularly in a high-accuracy manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of 5S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly document results and report issues.
  • Reliability and punctuality to support consistent production on a fixed shift schedule.
