Role Description The Five Axis Machinist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Phoenix Area. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring 5-axis CNC machines to produce aerospace components to exact specifications. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering drawings and CNC programs, selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures, performing precision measurements, and adjusting machine parameters to maintain tight tolerances.

The machinist will inspect finished parts, document quality checks, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve machining issues. Additional responsibilities include routine machine maintenance, following all safety and quality procedures, and contributing to process improvements on the shop floor.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in operating and setting up 5-axis CNC machines, including experience with tooling, fixturing, and machine offsets.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, with strong understanding of GD&T and aerospace tolerances.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and performing in-process and final inspections.
  • Experience with CNC programming or editing (e.g., G-code, CAM software) and troubleshooting machining issues to ensure part accuracy.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing standards, materials (e.g., aluminum, titanium, high-temperature alloys), and quality requirements.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, proper handling of equipment, and adherence to company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to work both independently and as part of a production team.
  • Previous experience as a CNC or 5-axis machinist in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment; vocational training or technical certification in machining is preferred.
