Copper State is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Mill Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating manual milling machines to produce precision components according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint-reading skills, experience using precision measuring instruments, and a commitment to producing high-quality work in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate manual milling machines to machine parts to precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and specifications.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, cutters, and fixtures for machining operations.
- Perform drilling, boring, slotting, facing, and other milling operations.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Verify dimensional accuracy and maintain required tolerances.
- Adjust machine settings and tooling as needed to achieve quality standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area.
- Follow established safety procedures and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and team members regarding production requirements and quality concerns.
- Assist with other machining or production duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of manual milling experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Ability to perform basic shop mathematics, including fractions, decimals, and geometry.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate machinery and hand tools in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to work in varying shop conditions, including exposure to noise, metal shavings, and machine lubricants.
