PositionSummary
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs used to manufacture precision components. This position works closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality departments to ensure programs maximize efficiency, reduce cycle times, improve tool life, and consistently produce parts that meet customer specifications.
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for CNC Mills, Lathes, Wire EDM, and other machining centers.
- Develop programs using CAD/CAM software.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications.
- Select tooling, cutting parameters, fixtures, and machining strategies.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and revise programs to improve performance.
- Support setup technicians and machinists during new product launches.
- Perform first article evaluations and assist with process validation.
- Reduce cycle times while maintaining product quality.
- Maintain organized program revisions and documentation.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve manufacturing processes.
- Recommend tooling improvements and process enhancements.
- Ensure programs comply with quality and aerospace manufacturing standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
- Train machinists and setup personnel on new programs and machining methods.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion preferred).
- Experience programming CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.
- Experience programming Wire EDM is a plus.
- Strong understanding of G-Code and M-Code programming.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, work holding, and fixture design.
- Experience working with tight tolerances.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience in automotive, racing, medical, or aerospace manufacturing preferred.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Machining, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
- CNC Programming certification is a plus.
- Mastercam programming experience
- CAD design experience (Solid Works or AutoCAD preferred) Fusion or Solid Works
