Pre-Production Supervisor

We are seeking a strong operational leader to drive efficiency, safety, and quality at the very front end of our production process.

About the Role

The Pre-Production Supervisor plays a critical role in feeding the assembly lines by overseeing the initial phases of the remanufacturing process. This position directly manages the Core Warehouse, Machine Shop, and Welding/Repair departments. The ideal candidate will ensure that core inventory is accurately processed, and that all machining and welding repairs meet strict dimensional and quality standards before components proceed to the final assembly cells.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activities of the core warehouse, machine shop, and welding/repair teams to ensure production schedules and output targets are met.
• Oversee the receiving, sorting, teardown, and staging of transmission cores.
• Ensure smooth flow of materials from the pre-production stage minimizing downtime and bottlenecks.
• Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies across all assigned departments.
• Enforce rigorous quality control standards, ensuring that all machined and welded components pass phase-gate inspections before advancing to assembly.
• Monitor the performance and maintenance of machine shop equipment (lathes, mills, resurface rs) and welding stations.
• Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with engineering/maintenance teams to resolve equipment downtime.
• Drive a culture of safety by enforcing all OSHA standards and facility safety policies.
• Actively participate in the plant safety committee to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate team members, fostering cross-training and continuous skill development.
• Manage labor hours, overtime, and department scheduling to align with operational budgets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, remanufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.
• Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of machining processes and welding/metal repair.
• Familiarity with warehouse management, inventory control, and core handling.
• Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read technical blueprints or specifications.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel) and inventory management software.
