As the Marketing & Brand Strategy Lead Volunteer, you will play a key role in helping Donkeys of the Heart grow its visibility, community engagement, and fundraising efforts. This strategic volunteer leadership position is ideal for someone who enjoys building marketing strategies, telling meaningful stories, and helping nonprofits increase awareness and support.
Working alongside the founder and leadership team, you will help develop a comprehensive marketing strategy that strengthens our brand, increases volunteer recruitment, expands donor engagement, and shares the incredible impact our donkeys have on the children and families we serve.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a lasting difference while using their marketing expertise for a meaningful cause.
Please note: Our donkeys are active program participants, not pets. To protect their wellbeing, volunteers are asked not to approach or touch them unless the donkey initiates contact. Touching the face is not permitted. These boundaries are essential and will be covered in your mandatory orientation.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop an annual marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals
- Build a marketing calendar that supports programs, fundraising campaigns, volunteer recruitment, and special events
- Help strengthen and maintain the Donkeys of the Heart brand across all communication channels
- Identify opportunities to increase community awareness and engagement
- Develop campaigns to attract volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners
- Collaborate with leadership to tell compelling stories that showcase the impact of our mission
- Recommend strategies for social media, email marketing, website content, and public relations
- Assist with marketing materials including brochures, presentations, event promotions, and donor communications
- Help establish marketing metrics and evaluate campaign effectiveness
- Recruit and mentor additional marketing volunteers as the program grows (if applicable)
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Attend periodic planning meetings (virtual or in person)
- Additional involvement during fundraising campaigns or special events as available
