About Voice Up
Voice Up connects people to purpose through storytelling, community outreach, and career development. Since launching in November 2024, Voice Up has built an ecosystem of 18 live platforms, a global music catalog reaching more than a million plays across 134 countries, and a consulting engagement with a leading global AI firm. Voice Up has established partnerships with institutions and universities across the U.S., and its verified producer network now spans more than 25 institutions whose students have created real‑world products that genuinely improve people’s lives all within less than two years.
TheOpportunity
Beginning January 1, 2027, new federal Medicaid rules will require many adults ages 19 to 64 to document 80 hours a month of work, school, training, or another qualifying activity, and will move Medicaid‑expansion renewals from once a year to twice a year. Roughly 18.5 million enrollees nationwide will need to prove compliance or an exemption. Most coverage losses are expected to come not from actual ineligibility but from missed notices, outdated addresses, and incomplete paperwork.
Voice Up interns will help close that gap by translating a confusing federal process into clear, shareable information that keeps people covered.
- Toolkit Team: Build plain‑language checklists and response templates covering address updates, notice deadlines, and exemption documentation, including translations for non‑English speakers.
- Storytelling Team: Collect and produce first‑person audio or video stories from people navigating renewal or work‑requirement documentation, for Voice Up’s Lived Experiences content channels.
- Music & Creative Outreach Team: Create short spoken‑word or musical PSAs and creative content that carry core action steps to Voice Up’s global audience.
- Local Ambassador Team: Host information tables in your own community, help neighbors assemble documentation, and report back on real barriers people are facing.
- Digital & Social Amplification Team: Build a content calendar of reminders, monitor state Medicaid announcements, and coordinate cross‑posting across Voice Up’s platforms.
- Every intern also attends weekly virtual check‑ins, applies Voice Up’s five core principles—collaboration, humility, precision, patience, and empathy—and completes a capstone deliverable at the end of the internship.
- Current college or graduate students, or recent graduates, in any major.
- No prior experience is required; what matters most is an authentic voice and a genuine commitment to the mission.
- Comfortable with basic writing, research, design, audio/video, or community outreach, depending on chosen team.
- Able to commit a minimum of 8 to 10 flexible hours per week for six weeks.
- Academic Credit, coordinated through Voice Up’s approved partner‑institution pathway for students fulfilling an internship or practicum requirement.
- Volunteer, for community members and students who want to contribute without seeking academic credit.
- Enrollment in the School for Humans Flourishing (SFHF), Voice Up’s purpose‑driven education model, grounded in Voice Up’s five principles and the B Curriculum’s seven components Breathing, Balance, Bench, Banking, Body, Brain, and Belief. Delivered 100% remotely with mentor coaching and cohort accountability, SFHF interns complete this internship as a real‑world practicum in place of traditional coursework.
Documentation and outreach need to begin well before January 2027, since some enrollees may be asked to prove compliance for a prior month. Most people who lose coverage under similar rules are already working, in school, or caregiving; they simply get tripped up by paperwork, missed notices, or a portal they couldn’t navigate in time. Closing that gap is exactly what Voice Up interns are equipped to do.
As an intern, you won’t just be building a resume line—you’ll be helping real people keep health coverage they are entitled to, using the same skills of storytelling, precision, and community connection that define everything Voice Up does.
