Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re looking for a Content Strategist who can connect brand, audience, culture, channel, and performance to build content strategies that drive meaningful business results.

This role owns content strategy across various digital touchpoints, including organic social, paid social, email, SEO, website content, blogs, and integrated campaigns. You’ll translate business objectives and audience insights into clear messaging strategies, creative briefs, and actionable recommendations that guide teams from strategy through execution.

You’ll serve as a strategic and creative partner to clients and internal teams, bringing a clear point of view on what brands should say, where they should show up, what they should test, and how content should evolve based on performance. This is a highly collaborative role for someone who can think big-picture without losing sight of execution.

  • Lead cross-channel content strategy across organic social, paid media, email, SEO, web, blogs, and other digital channels.
  • Translate business objectives, audience insights, cultural trends, platform behavior, and performance data into actionable content strategies and creative direction.
  • Develop and evolve brand voice, messaging frameworks, content pillars, editorial priorities, and channel strategies across the customer journey.
  • Lead organic social strategy and content planning, ensuring ideas are culturally relevant, platform-native, and tailored to audience behaviors.
  • Stay ahead of platform shifts, emerging communities, creator behavior, and cultural trends to identify relevant opportunities for clients.
  • Develop clear, actionable creative briefs that define objectives, audiences, messaging, formats, hooks, calls to action, and measures of success.
  • Lead brainstorms and partner with Design, Paid Media, Email, Account, and other teams to turn strategy into compelling, integrated execution.
  • Review and quality‑control content for strategic alignment, brand consistency, platform fit, clarity, and overall quality.
  • Analyze content and creative performance using KPIs, SEO insights, audience behavior, and competitive data to identify opportunities and inform optimization.
  • Translate performance learnings into recommendations, testing opportunities, and future content strategy.
  • Serve as a content strategy expert in client meetings, presentations, brainstorms, and planning sessions, clearly communicating the strategic “why” behind recommendations.
  • Manage briefs, feedback, approvals, and timelines while mentoring junior creative team members and proactively bringing forward new ideas and opportunities.
  • Seek clarity in all communications.
  • Act in the best interest of both the client and Defero.
  • Continuously improve and seek growth for the agency and its clients.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal teams, excelling in both written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality work.
  • Operate independently and take initiative.
  • Address challenges directly and constructively with colleagues when necessary.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to Defero’s culture.
  • Confidently present and participate in discussions, especially on media‑related topics.
  • Approach tasks with a problem‑solving and solution‑oriented mindset.
  • Document time daily in Workamajig.
  • Travel as needed for client meetings and events.
Requirements
  • 4–6 years of experience in content strategy or a related discipline.
  • Agency experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing content strategies, messaging frameworks, editorial calendars, and creative briefs across organic social, paid media, email, web, and SEO.
  • Strong understanding of how content, messaging, and audience behavior differ across digital channels and platforms.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt voice and tone across brands, audiences, and formats.
  • Ability to turn performance data, consumer insights, competitive intelligence, and cultural trends into actionable creative recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, website content strategy, and performance‑driven copywriting.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with confidence articulating clear strategic POVs to clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines in a fast‑paced agency environment.
  • Curiosity and working knowledge of emerging platforms, cultural shifts, AI, and new technologies, with experience in Figma and collaborative project management tools.
