Job Overview

As the Content Marketing Specialist at Somerled, you will lead the charge in creating compelling, on-brand content across our social media (Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, Linked In, Pinterest) and other organic digital channels. You’ll be responsible for both strategy and execution, developing content that captures our design-forward, hospitality-driven aesthetic while supporting business goals.

This role will report to the Marketing Manager and blends creativity with organization: you’ll own the content calendar, oversee post scheduling, manage visual asset organization, and ensure all content aligns with Somerled’s tone and style. You’ll also capture projects and behind-the-scenes content (some travel required), and collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure content is timely, relevant, and engaging.

We’re looking for someone who’s proactive, detail-oriented, and data-driven—someone who uses performance metrics and trend research to inform ongoing strategy, improve processes, and elevate our brand presence.

Responsibilities
  • General Content Development
    • Research and understand industry and customer-centric topics to generate relevant, engaging content.
    • Collaborate across internal departments and external partners to develop a content strategy that supports business goals and campaigns.
    • Monitor and analyze content performance, developing actionable insights that guide content strategy.
    • Ensure all content aligns with Somerled’s brand guidelines, tone, and style.
    • Manage the organization of content-related visual assets in the content management system.
    • Capture projects and happenings through video for social media content – SOME TRAVEL REQUIRED.
    • Develop video scripts, outlines, and key messaging for on-site content capture.
  • Social Media Content Creation & Coordination
    • Manage and oversee all social media content: create, schedule, and post across platforms.
    • Coordinate social media calendars and collaborate on content themes, campaigns, and strategies.
    • Create engaging content using tools like Canva or similar programs.
    • Plan, build, and manage automated email sequences and newsletters in Flodesk, focusing on audience segmentation, design, and performance optimization.
    • Monitor social media engagement and trends, respond to comments and messages, and own account management.
    • Develop co-branded social media campaigns with industry partners.
    • Develop shot sheets and inspiration guides for photo, video, and content shoots.
    • Edit short-form video content in-house for social platforms.
    • Manage partnerships and own creative direction with external partners (video editors, photographers, contractors, etc.).
  • Collaboration and Coordination
    • Works with other marketing team members and designers to ensure content is strategically planned and informative.
    • Sync with the Marketing Manager to strategize content, assess current processes, and make adjustments for continued improvement based on trend research & company-wide marketing messaging needs.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or other related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in social media marketing or similar industry-specific capacities.
    • Must demonstrate a keen interest and competency in content creation, social media, and email marketing (including written, photo, and video).
    • Proficiency with Content Management System (CMS) tools, social media platforms, Flodesk, and content editing tools like Canva.
    • Experience analyzing data and reporting trends.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with an emphasis on social media posts; new creative ideas; determining and communicating the scope of projects; and social media community management.
  • Preferred:
    • Detail-oriented with ability to see the big picture and think strategically to bring ideas to fruition.
    • Previous marketing experience in the short-term rental, interior design, real estate, or adjacent industries.
Benefits
  • Remote working options.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • A collaborative, inclusive workplace.
