Salary Range: $48,000.00 To $55,000.00 Annually
POSITION SUMMARY:The Communications Specialist II supports the Marketing & Communications Senior Manager in executing the Center’s communications strategy, marketing plans, campaigns, and public-facing activities. This
highly creative, hands-on position develops written, graphic, digital, photographic, and video content; produces marketing materials; manages digital communications; and documents the Center’s work and impact
through storytelling and multimedia.
The Communications Specialist II independently manages projects from concept through completion and understands how individual communications activities support broader organizational goals. The position
requires creativity, strong organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. The position also requires an understanding of civic engagement
and public affairs at the tribal, state, and federal levels and how government, public policy, community engagement, and communications intersect with the Center’s work.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop written, graphic, photographic, and multimedia content for the Center’s website, e-newsletters, social media, digital communications, campaigns, events, and other marketing channels.
- Independently design and produce professional print and digital materials using Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva, including flyers, brochures, advertisements, banners, fact sheets, invitations, presentations, event signage, and social media graphics.
- Produce and edit short- and long-form video, including reels, promotional and event videos, interviews, educational content, and organizational storytelling using Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Express, Cap Cut, Canva, or comparable software.
- Develop and execute communications campaigns from planning through completion, including audience identification, messaging, creative development, promotional timelines, social media, email, website updates, media outreach, event-day communications, and post-event follow-up.
- Develop e-newsletters and internal communications and coordinate content across email, website, social media, and other platforms.
- Gather stories, testimonials, photographs, video, and other content that document the Center’s programs, services, community engagement, and impact.
- Photograph Center events and activities as needed and maintain organized digital libraries of photographs, videos, graphics, design files, and other communications assets.
- Assist with public relations activities, including press releases, media communications, press conferences, and other public-facing activities.
- Support communications related to civic engagement and public affairs at the tribal, state, and federal levels, including communications connected to public policy, government relations, and community priorities.
- Monitor communications, social media, email, website, and campaign performance and use analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with leadership and service-area staff to gather information, identify stories, develop accurate content, and effectively communicate programs and services.
- Coordinate with vendors and maintain communications calendars, project timelines, and workflows to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with Center branding and organizational standards.
