Mid-Level Gift Officer
The Mid-Level Gift Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects to support the strategic fundraising goals of St. Mary's Food Bank. This individual will play a critical role in securing gifts and will be instrumental in building and sustaining long-term philanthropic relationships that advance the organization's mission and programs. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Charitable Support, the Mid-Level Gift Officer will plan and execute events for various donor audiences designed to cultivate, recognize, educate, and steward current food bank donors of varying levels of support.
Essential Functions
- Cultivate and Steward Relationships:
Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors through personalized communication such as thank-you calls, emails, notes, visits, and events. Ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction post-gift. - Schedule and Conduct Donor Meetings:
Arrange and lead meetings with donors and prospects to discuss their interests, capacity, and willingness to support St. Mary's programs through major or annual gifts. - Identify and Research Donors:
Identify potential donors aligned with St. Mary's mission, assessing their capacity and propensity to give significant one-time or recurring gifts. Conduct research to understand their interests and giving history. - Manage Donor Portfolio:
Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, giving history, interests, and preferences in the database. Develop and implement engagement, solicitation, and moves management strategies to guide donors through the giving cycle. - Reporting and Metrics Analysis:
Implement reporting and tracking systems to monitor and analyze metrics and success, ensuring continuous improvement and impact measurement. - Support Leadership in Fundraising Efforts:
Involve senior leadership, including the Senior Manager of Charitable Support, and Chief Development Officer in the cultivation and solicitation of donors and prospects as needed. - Educational Event Development and Coordination:
Develop and coordinate non-fundraising educational events that provide exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences to engage and educate supporters. - Strategic Development for Giving Officers:
Develop and execute innovative strategies that all giving officers can adopt and utilize effectively. - Additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- Four-year degree or equivalent in nonprofit, sales, marketing, or related fields.
- Proven experience in maintaining donor relationships and developing effective strategies for gift solicitation.
- Strong stewardship and relationship management skills, with meticulous follow-through and excellent presentation abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating St. Mary's mission, strategic goals, and case for support.
- Ability to independently and confidently initiate contact with donors and prospects.
- Experience in project management, including planning and executing successful events.
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative events and initiatives.
- Proficient in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and Raiser's Edge.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, including conducting donor tours and participating in events.
