Director, Social Responsibility & Volunteers
This position will lead and execute Social Responsibility and Volunteer initiatives for major events across Arizona and is responsible for building program strategy, managing day-to-day execution, and delivering measurable community and commercial impact for ALLIANCE. This individual will operate as both a strategic lead and hands-on operator, developing program vision while directly executing key initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Program Strategy & Execution
o Develop and lead the strategy, frameworks, budgets, timelines, and goals for the inception of new and the continuation of existing ALLIANCE Social Responsibility programs, including:
- Business Connect – A supplier diversity initiative designed to promote equitable and inclusive procurement practices for major events in Arizona, committed to supporting minority-, women-, LGBTQ+-, and veteran-owned businesses.
- Statewide Reading Program – A literacy challenge aimed at creating a lifelong love of and interest in reading for 3rd grade students across the state of Arizona.
- Sustainability – A variety of initiatives to mitigate the environmental impact of hosting major events and create a green legacy in the community.
o Own end-to-end program execution, from concept through delivery and post-event reporting
o Identify and build partnerships with Arizona-based organizations to expand program reach and impact
Community Impact & Partnerships
o Develop and execute community engagement strategies across key focus areas: education, inclusion, health & wellness, and sustainability
o Build and maintain relationships with nonprofits, community leaders, and local stakeholders
o Identify opportunities for meaningful, grassroots engagement that align with event priorities and community needs
Volunteer Program Support
o Support large-scale volunteer program planning and execution (~1,000-5,000 volunteers, depending on event need)
o Assist with recruitment strategy, onboarding, and platform management
o Ensure volunteer experience aligns with overall event and community goals
Operations & Cross-Functional Collaboration
o Manage program budgets, track performance, and identify cost efficiencies
o Partner with internal teams (Partnerships, Events, Marketing) to integrate sponsors and create revenue-generating opportunities across programs
o Lead program tracking and reporting, including impact metrics and end-of-cycle recaps
o Contribute to organization-wide initiatives and support event execution as needed
Qualifications & Competencies
o 5–8 years of experience in social responsibility, community engagement, or program management (major events, sports, or large-scale organizations preferred)
o Proven ability to both develop strategy and execute programs independently
o Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple work streams simultaneously
o Experience working cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
o Understanding of Arizona's community and nonprofit landscape strongly preferred
o Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with limited structure
o Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
o High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
o Proactive, solutions-oriented, and adaptable
o Proficient in Microsoft Office
Work Environment:
This is an onsite role based in downtown Phoenix and will require flexibility, including occasional evenings and weekends during event periods.
