Program Manager

Position Summary

As Program Manager, you join an exclusive team of leaders responsible for implementing the Alzheimer’s Association Portfolio of Community Program Offerings. The portfolio brings awareness, education, and support to communities nationwide and activates a grassroots network of individuals and community leaders to work toward a world without Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Utilizing your proven leadership, networking, and relationship‑building skills, you will cultivate key community connections, expand the reach of our community offerings, and activate and empower volunteers—especially in new, underrepresented, and rural communities. You will manage multiple program delivery volunteers annually, generate excitement for the cause, coach volunteers, and drive measurable growth.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, coach, and manage volunteers to build grassroots movements that meet organizational goals, applying Association best practices in volunteer engagement.
  • Activate and support volunteers using Association methods such as peer coaching, mission conversations, and quality improvement strategies.
  • Manage a volunteer‑led portfolio of Community Program Offerings, ensuring balanced delivery and stepping in as needed to maintain service levels.
  • Cultivate and manage community partnerships, including underrepresented groups, to enhance awareness, education, support, and brand visibility.
  • Develop and execute data‑informed community impact plans and secure Community Partner Agreements aligned with local needs.
  • Collaborate across departments—revenue, advocacy, leadership, and others—to identify and qualify awareness opportunities, strategically engaging supporters.
  • Evaluate and improve volunteer performance, manage budgets, grants, and timelines with precision.
  • Inspire urgency for the Alzheimer’s Association’s full mission, with emphasis on reaching underrepresented communities that have limited access to diagnosis and treatment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to achieve goals.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Confident, goal‑oriented, positive self‑starter able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture community relationships and partnerships.
  • Capacity to manage and coach large numbers of volunteers at varying experience levels with diplomacy.
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and ensure inclusion within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with strong follow‑through.
  • Ready and willing to travel up to 60% of the time by car; may include occasional overnight or air travel; must hold a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends for volunteer mentoring and event attendance.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and quickly able to learn CRM software.
