About UMOM New Day CentersFounded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, rebuild lives, and end homelessness. With an annual operating budget of $22 million, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and single women experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub.
PositionDescription
The Employment Center Manager is responsible for managing and implementing organizational strategies related to the workforce center. This position is responsible for implementing best practices of workforce development programming in alignment with our housing and income-based strategy for ending homelessness. The Employment Center Manager will work closely with program directors and other operational leadership to ensure that workforce-related program activities are implemented successfully and that case managers are supported in providing direct employment services to UMOM clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Management- Manages the day-to-day operations of UMOM's Workforce Center, including implementing employment-based case management, on-site employment support for clients from all programs, resource distribution, and employment-based workshops.
- Oversee and update Workforce Center's resources and employment-based workshops on SharePoint and the website.
- Supervises Workforce Specialist staff, including training, work direction, productivity and efficiency appraisal, feedback and coaching delivery, and disciplinary action, if required.
- Monitor grant spending, program impact, and data collection to meet all established programmatic and financial goals.
- Participate in weekly staffing for shelter and housing programs, when appropriate, to help address client barriers, build effective case plans, and design exit plans for obtaining and retaining sustainable income.
- Collaborate with regional and national workforce agencies to develop a network of resources, promote programs, and establish meaningful partnerships. Support community-based efforts and initiatives that align with UMOM's mission.
- Promotes a data-driven and outcomes-based culture. Assist UMOM's senior leadership in establishing, overseeing, and tracking quality indicators for employment and job training programs. Programs should consistently demonstrate effectiveness and efficiency.
- Leads the design and implementation of a comprehensive workforce development strategy to meet the unique needs of participants across all UMOM programs. Works closely with the senior leadership team to ensure that income-based program models are fully integrated and set up to produce high-impact employment outcomes for all working clients.
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies and processes related to workforce development and wellness initiatives.
- Collaborates with program staff and managers to ensure the accuracy and reliability of agency data and full compliance with internal and external data standards.
- Audits data to ensure the program model is being adhered to and utilized as a teaching tool for staff.
- Provides reports, summaries, and documentation as needed.
- High School Diploma / GED required.
- Minimum four years of professional experience in a relevant role (e.g., workforce development, homeless services, non-profits, or community-based organization positions) or a bachelor's degree, with at least three years of experience in relevant roles.
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of the non-profit/social sector; experience working with underserved or disadvantaged populations preferred.
- Proficiency with applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
