Position Summary:
Phoenix Children’s Urology Division is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) with pediatric expertise to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be board eligible or certified as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with advanced skills in pediatric care and RN First Assist (RNFA) credentials from an accredited training program. This role will encompass both outpatient pediatric clinic responsibilities and support as an RNFA in urologic surgical cases at our Arrowhead and Main campus locations.
- Provide high-quality, family-centered clinical care to pediatric patients in the outpatient urology clinic.
- Participate in surgical procedures as a First Assistant in urology operating rooms.
- Collaborate with urologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, develop treatment plans, and manage follow-up care.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Document patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with hospital policies and standards of care.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical program development.
- Required:
Graduate level preparation as an NP or PA.
Additional notes:
The position works in collaboration with attending physicians and operates within their scope of practice to provide care for patients. Plays a critical role in the patient family medical team. May practice in hospital inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
- Conducts comprehensive health history, physical assessments and plans for infants, children and young adults with acute and chronic health conditions. Utilizes advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients.
- Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
- Formulates family-centered plan of care. Documents as necessary. Coordinates with other team members.
- Collects data and analyzes outcomes as needed.
- Performs advanced procedures within credentialing process DOP.
- Uses up-to-date evidence-based practice to guide plan of care and adapts as needed for family needs and effectiveness.
- Serves as an educational resource to patients/families/nursing staff/provider teams.
- Participates in professional development and may serve as a preceptor/mentor for learners.
- Demonstrates commitment to patient safety and reporting concerns through appropriate channels.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
