Overview
RN PREOP/PACU – The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient s condition, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation;
assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.
- Provide continuity and quality nursing care for all patients in PREOP/PACU with continual evaluation of the patient s condition, ensuring safety, comfort, and privacy.
- Assist physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and sterile techniques as deemed appropriate.
- Deliver total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the patient and family in preparation for discharge.
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Active RN license in the state
- BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center
- 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
- Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current AZ Nursing License
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Pre-Op/PACU. Previous experience working in an ambulatory surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
- Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
- Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
- Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
- Excellent teaching skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrate accountability, creativity, innovation and be receptive to change
- Possess basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
