Schedule:

3x12-hour shifts, Day Shift (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM) with weekend and holiday rotations. Enjoy an 18% night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential when applicable, and an additional $3/hr float incentive on top of base pay.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction, requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Core

Functions
  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family, ensures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews information from other team members and diagnostics. Reports abnormal results to physician(s). Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
  • Formulates a plan of care, including discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team. Initiates plan based on patient-specific needs, sets realistic, measurable goals with patient/family. Considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs. Plans care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team. Revises plan reflecting changing patient needs.
  • Implements plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health team activities. Provides care based on physician orders and nursing plan, complying with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision during care by other licensed nurses and personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating status to other caregivers.
  • Evaluates patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revises plan of care as needed; evaluates progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with team; evaluates effectiveness of patient teaching.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient record. Documentation is legible, timely, and per policy, reflecting objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, patient response, and accurate physician orders.
  • Provides care based on best evidence and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership; participates in education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families. Promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
  • Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes by providing timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care; actively participates in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; may participate in professional organizations.
  • May supervise staff and workflow of the department.
  • Interacts with all levels of staff in various departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers, agencies concerning patient health; interacts with other providers in various settings to request or clarify information; works with clergy to provide spiritual support; synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses.

    Qualifications

    Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state; BLS certification required.
