The Department of Internal Medicine is expanding its team to welcome an experienced Clinical Research Nurse. This team member will assist in the execution of industry-sponsored and federally funded clinical trials as well as investigator-initiated research, from protocol concept to clinical study report. The position provides dedicated nursing support for patients through study-specific procedures in outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings and requires a flexible schedule to support cardiac and pulmonary critical care research.
Responsibilities- Study Coordination:
Participate in feasibility assessment of new studies by reviewing potential protocols and informed consent documents. - Screen and enroll participants: assess eligibility, recruit, schedule appointments, interview and evaluate candidates.
- Obtain informed consent: explain the study, obtain consent, and address concerns.
- Visit scheduling: coordinate patient appointments, procedures, and follow‑ups as required per protocol.
- Patient Care and Clinical Assessments: monitor health, record vital signs, review lab results, and collect/report adverse events.
- Administer treatments/interventions: provide study‑related treatments, coordinate and/or perform physical assessments, perform lab draws, administer injections where required.
- Patient support: serve as primary point of contact for participants and family.
- Data Collection and Documentation: document medical data, maintain records for audits, assist in manuscript preparation, enter data into electronic databases, maintain detailed records of patient data.
- Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: ensure compliance with IRB, FDA, and GCP; report adverse events and protocol deviations; prepare for sponsor visits and regulatory audits.
- Collaboration and Communication: collaborate with investigators and research team, participate in meetings, train/mentor staff, develop patient educational materials, supervise clinical nurses, act as patient liaison.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: excellent communication skills; knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of clinical/translational research.
- RN license and graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Two years of floor nursing experience.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate night and weekend enrollments as needed.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Experience in human subjects research, including clinical trials.
- Certification with SoCRA or ACRP.
- Experience with research protocols, development, and regulations.
- Motivation to provide high‑quality, compliant research.
