The RN’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. They record patient histories, assist in diagnostic tests, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and aid in patient follow‑up and rehabilitation. They develop and implement care plans, manage IV lines, monitor patient status, consult with physicians and other clinical staff, educate patients and families on illness management and home care, supervise licensed practical nurses and aides, precept new staff and students, and continually enhance their knowledge of nursing practice and patient problems.
They collect and analyze health data, establish and evaluate nursing diagnoses, design evidence‑based care plans, implement interventions, initiate emergency and resuscitative measures as required, and document observations and interventions in a retrievable format. The RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, supports professional development, and contributes to research and quality improvement.
Education:
Associates or Diploma in Nursing. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have 5+ years of RN experience at the time of hire. Bachelors in nursing (BSN) required for all float positions. Preferred: BSN.
Experience:
>10 months in med‑surg or acute specialty. 1 year RN experience for all float positions. License:
Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona (state or compact).
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and unit‑specific certifications (including DOP, National certification for unit‑specific patient population) required. Preferred:
Other certifications.
