Job Summary

As our Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse at Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, you will play a pivotal role in the Heart & Lung Institute, the nation's sole stand-alone lung transplant center, within our Cardiac Service Line of Excellence. You will prepare patients for surgical procedures and provide exceptional care in our seven CTOR surgical suites, which operate from 6:30 am to 7 pm and conduct over 1500 cases annually.

• Review consent forms and address patient inquiries prior to surgery
• Conduct preoperative assessments and ensure equipment readiness
• Keep family members informed about the surgery's progress
• Directly assist the surgeon during procedures
• Work within a specialized staffing ratio including two RN circulators, a cardiothoracic scrub technician, and a Physician's Assistant
• Assist the surgeon and surgical team in the operating room
• Care for patients before, during, and after procedures
• Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients
• Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
• Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

Required

• Diploma, ADN or Foreign Equivalent
• Registered Nurse: AZ or Compact license
• American Heart Association BLS
• American Heart Association ACLS, within 6 months

Preferred

• BSN
• One year recent acute care experience
