Location: Phoenix, AZ

Agency: Magnet Medical

Pay: $2,267 per week

Shift: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Start Date: 6/29/2026

About the Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery (L&D) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN in this specialty is skilled in managing both routine and high‑risk pregnancies, monitoring fetal and maternal well‑being, and assisting with deliveries. The L&D nurse collaborates with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care to both mothers and newborns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre‑Labor and Admission Assessment: Assess and monitor pregnant women, perform non‑stress tests, educate patients about labor and delivery processes, pain management, and expectations.
  • Labor Support and Monitoring: Monitor labor progress, administer medications including epidurals and Pitocin, provide continuous emotional support, and assist with amniotomy and other procedures.
  • Assisting with Delivery: Assist obstetricians or midwives during vaginal deliveries, participate in cesarean sections, perform neonatal resuscitation, monitor mother and newborn postpartum, and provide breastfeeding support and education.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Record all assessments, interventions, medications, and patient progress accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the healthcare team to plan individualized care and communicate clearly with patients and families about labor progress and options.
  • Infection Control and Safety: Follow infection control procedures and ensure all equipment is sterilized and functional.
  • Emergency and High‑Risk Situations: Recognize complications, initiate interventions, and respond to obstetric emergencies using appropriate protocols.
  • Patient Education and Advocacy: Provide education and support regarding labor, delivery options, newborn care, and postpartum recovery, and advocate for patient preferences.
