- Guide practice according to ANA Standards and the Code of Ethics.
- Record patients’ medical history and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical equipment; administer treatments and medications; coordinate follow‑up and rehabilitation.
- Establish or contribute to patient care plans, including medication administration, IV line management, therapies, observations, and physician consultations.
- Educate patients and families on illness management, home‑care requirements, diet, nutrition, exercise, and self‑medication.
- Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides; delegate tasks when appropriate.
- Advance clinical knowledge and skills; precept new hires and students; assist staff and students in completing competency tasks.
- Continuously enhance knowledge of nursing management and patient care; improve patient experience and clinical outcomes; promote a healthy work environment.
- Apply theory‑based, evidence‑based nursing with shared governance decision‑making.
- For stroke‑patient care, apply knowledge of stroke symptoms, protocols, NIHSS Stroke Alert activation, stroke quality indicators, and patient education resources.
- Collect health data systematically and prioritize it based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise appropriate patient plans of care.
- Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient and their specific health problems.
- Implement interventions in the plan of care, including treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures, using standing orders and policies.
- Provide nursing care that meets physical, emotional, spiritual, and social‑cultural needs using a family‑centered approach.
- Evaluate patient progress toward attainment of outcomes and document observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
- Assess the quality and effectiveness of the care plan, ensuring cost‑effective high‑quality care.
- Evaluate own practice against professional standards, statutes, regulations, and system policies; maintain current knowledge in nursing practice.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, peers, and other health‑care providers to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care delivery.
- Engage in professional development activities, including research, evidence‑based practice, and systemic evaluation of nursing practice.
- Apply ethical principles in all aspects of practice; enhance knowledge about cultural diversity and specific population needs.
- Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- BSN required; or Diploma/ADN plus five years of RN experience obtained within 60 months of hire.
- For staff with direct responsibility for stroke patients, refer to addendum for specific education requirements.
- Ten months in a med‑surg or acute specialty setting.
- One year RN experience required for all float positions.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona or applicable Compact State licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; unit‑specific certifications as required.
- National certification for unit‑specific patient populations required; preferred additional certifications.
On‑call pay $100–$200 per night.
