Position SummaryThis position provides managerial and clinical support to patients and staff in the operating room department. The Associate Director RN leads nursing care, manages unit operations, and oversees quality improvement initiatives.
Core Functions- Manage and facilitate patient-centered nursing care for designated patient populations, serving as a real-time clinical expert for unit staff and physicians for escalated problem-solving.
- Oversee operations of the unit to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management and resource utilization.
- Lead change by developing, implementing, and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives of the department with the director.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Facilitate communication of system, regional, facility, and department initiatives.
- Manage operational and capital budgets and associated resources.
- Support staff leadership development through shared leadership models and career advancement opportunities.
- Handle selection, orientation, onboarding, and retention, including coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
- Manage multiple clinical units to ensure excellent patient care and develop leadership of entry-level nurse managers.
- BSN or MSN required for all new hires; BSN required for internal transfers/promotions within 6 months of transfer/promotion.
- Current RN license in state of practice and BLS certification.
- At least two years of clinical management experience in a relevant patient population.
- Strong knowledge of clinical care management, critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills.
- For LTC setting: familiarity with Alzheimer’s disease and developmental disabilities.
- Compliance with required background checks and fingerprint clearance cards as applicable.
- Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
- Experience in the OR, both inpatient/outpatient, and prior leadership experience within the OR.
