Position Summary

Full‑time night shift Registered Nurse in the PCU‑Surgical department at Banner University Medical Center‑Phoenix, Arizona. The role supports adult cardiac patients in a high‑acuity environment, providing skilled care for vascular, cardiothoracic surgical, heart transplantation, and heart failure cases. The position requires a valid RN license and experience in telemetry, ICU, home health, skilled nursing, medical/surgical or any acute/critical care background.

Core Functions

Assesses patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; reviews history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; reports abnormal findings to the physician and collaboration partners.

Forms and revises individualized plans of care, including discharge plans, based on assessment data and input from patients, families, and the health team.

Implements plans of care via direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health team; ensures compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.

Evaluates patients’ responses to care and teaching, revises plans of care as needed, and monitors progress toward goals.

Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely, legible, and policy‑compliant manner.

Provides evidence‑based care and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.

Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, education, and mentorship activities to support growth of staff and patients.

Contributes to national nursing quality initiatives and may engage in professional organization activities.

Supervises staff and workflow in the department when applicable and coordinates care across multiple settings.

Minimum Qualifications

Current, valid RN license in driving state, or compact RN licensure for the state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
One year of acute‑care RN experience in a hospital setting within the past 12 months.
Experience in the specialty area being applied for, or substantive experience in an acute‑care setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
Professional certification relevant to the specialty area.
Additional related education and/or experience.
