Travel RN - Cardiovascular ICU

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU/CTICU) position at a Level I Trauma Center in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and CVICU background preferred.

• Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active — pending licensure will not be accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• CCRN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; CVICU experience strongly preferred
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation; candidates are allowed 2 attempts
• Strong IV skills required — no IV team on the unit
• A driver's license must be provided for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license

• Work setting is an acute care, Level I Trauma Center in a 24-bed Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU/CVICU)
• Patient population includes post-cardiac surgery recovery, IABP, CRRT, ECMO, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, TAVR, esophagectomy, lobectomy, and pneumectomy cases
• Patient ratios are 1:1–2, with a high volume of 1:1 assignments due to case acuity
• Very high acuity unit with frequent bedside procedures including bronchoscopies, Swan‑Ganz catheter placements, and epidurals
• Travelers with IABP and CABG experience may take applicable patients
• Philips telemetry monitoring equipment is used on the unit
• EMR is Cerner
• 12‑hour night shifts, 7pm–7am
• 3 weekend shifts required per 4‑week schedule
• Holidays are worked on a rotation basis based on unit coverage needs
• Floating is required to other ICUs, all telemetry units (4:1 ratio), and the Westgate campus; travelers float before permanent staff
• No IV team on unit — strong IV skills are required
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7; pharmacy supports transplant patients
• A charge nurse is present with no patient assignment
• 2 PCTs are available days and nights during high census
• On Day 1 of orientation, RNs must pass a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; nurses have been dismissed for breaking sterile field
• Orientation also includes education on lifts, restraints, and wound care
• Floor‑specific orientation is 2 days on the unit
• Navy scrubs are required
• Natural hair color and no facial piercings are required; men must be clean‑shaven for fit testing
• Travelers are required to have their own vehicle
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full‑time, part‑time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside agencies will be considered
• First‑time travelers are not mentioned as eligible — CVICU‑experienced candidates are strongly preferred given unit acuity
