Job Summary

Primary City/State:
Phoenix, Arizona
Department: ICU‑Trauma‑Surgical‑Hospital
Shift: Day (7am – 7:30pm) with self‑scheduling and a flat $3/hour weekend differential.

The ICU Trauma RN provides critical care to patients ranging from trauma in the trauma room to complex medical, neurological, cardiac, and surgical cases. Responsibilities include assessments, care planning, interventions, documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and participation in quality improvement activities.

Core Functions
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians.
  • Formulate and revise patient care plans with realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with the patient, family, and multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement plans through direct care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team; communicate accurately with other caregivers.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, adjust care plans accordingly; assess progress toward goals.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record accurately and timely.
  • Use evidence‑based practice; participate in research, unit leadership, and education of staff, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Contribute to society through activities that improve patient outcomes and participate in professional organizations.
  • Supervise staff and manage workflow as required.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, including clergy for spiritual support.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact license).
    • BLS certification required.
    • Experience in acute‑care clinical area, specialty with at least one year of practice in a hospital setting within the past 12 months.
    • Maintain clinical performance competencies; annual validations required.
    • Fingerprint clearance card if required by specific Banner facilities (Arizona, Colorado, etc.).
    • Preferred:
      Bachelor’s degree, professional certification, related education or experience.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
