RN Telemetry

Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Telemetry Unit, utilizing advanced skills in monitoring, assessment, and intervention.
• Document medical history, symptoms, diagnostic results, and nursing interventions; maintain accurate and retrievable records.
• Administer medications safely, including IV lines, dosing checks, and monitoring for interactions and adverse reactions.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized, evidence‑based patient care plans, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, medication administration, post‑treatment care, diet, and exercise.
• Guide licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring quality of care.
• Precept new hire staff and students, supporting their competency development and continuous learning.
• Maintain professional competence through ongoing education, evidence‑based practice, and ethical standards.

• Associate's or diploma in Nursing (BSN required within 60 months of hire for ADN holders).
• BSN preferred.
• Specialized stroke education requirements apply; refer to addendum for details.

• Minimum 10 months in a med‑surg or acute specialty setting.
• 1 year RN experience required for all float positions.
• 5 or more years of RN experience (direct patient care or indirect RN roles) may substitute for BSN within 60 months.

• Valid RN license in Arizona (or Compact State License).
• BLS certification required.
• Unit‑specific national certifications required upon hire.
• Unit‑specific certifications (e.g., DOP) as required.
• Preferred certifications:
  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent.
