Work Shift:

Night. This is a PRN ICU Registered Nurse position at Banner University Medical Center – Phoenix. The role involves evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. Registry/Per Diem positions do not have guaranteed hours and no medical benefits are offered; a minimum of two shifts per month is required, and completion of an occupational health physical assessment, drug screen, and background check is mandatory.

Core

Functions

Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and report abnormal findings to physician(s).

Formulate a comprehensive plan of care, including discharge plans, based on patient assessment and input from patients, families, and the health team; revise plans to reflect changing patient needs.

Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team; comply with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.

Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plans as needed; monitor progress toward goals.

Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in a timely, legible manner following policy; accurately note physician orders.

Provide care based on best evidence; participate in research, leadership, and orientation activities; mentor and precept when appropriate.

Contribute to patient outcomes through participation in improvement initiatives and professional organizations.

Supervise staff and workflow of the department when applicable.

Interact with all staff levels, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and spiritual care providers to coordinate and clarify information.

Minimum Qualifications

Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (including temporary/interim or compact license).
BLS certification required; additional certification or continuing education may be required.
Preferred experience in the clinical area relevant to the position; at least one year of acute care hospital experience within the past 12 months as RN.
Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require one year of acute care experience; travel positions require one year in a physician practice or acute care setting.
Employees at certain Banner facilities must possess the applicable Arizona or Colorado fingerprint clearance card at the time of hire and maintain it during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.
Professional certification preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
