Responsibilities

The registered nurse (RN) coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.

The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, is skillful in mentoring and teaching, and may participate on committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of the role.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship.

Qualifications

Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA. If graduate from a non‑accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required. All entry‑level associate degree RN with start dates from April 1, 2020 onward must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate completion within five years from RN start date.

Prior graduates must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate completion as stipulated  year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on‑call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations. Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills.

Current RN license by applicable state requirements. BLS must be valid for 90 days post start date from American Heart Association: “BLS Provider” or American Red Cross: “Basic Life Support” or “CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers.” Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area. One year of Hem/BMT/Cellular Therapy experience preferred.

Schedule

Full Time; 80 hours per pay period. Days, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm. No weekend schedule.
