The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. They function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, handling planning, implementation, evaluation, and communication of all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.

RN leadership is demonstrated through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership duties, and quality improvement efforts. Delegation of patient care is based on skill level, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are required; participation on committees or projects is encouraged. A subset of employees may need to drive personal vehicles. The role is eligible for TN sponsorship.

Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA. If graduated from a program not accredited by these bodies, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required. Entry‑level associate degree RNs with a start date after 1 April 2020 must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate completion within five years of the start date;

those with a start date before that must provide evidence per the degree requirement in place at hire.

• 5 years RN experience in cardiovascular nursing (EP Lab, Cardiac ICU, Cardiac Progressive Care/Telemetry) or 5 years in a Device Clinic.
• Prior experience with electronic medical records.
• Ability to work flexible hours (days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, on‑call).
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills.
• ACLS/BLS required upon hire.

One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.

• Strong ECG skills.
• Independent function and desire for continuous learning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Team‑based experience and strong computer skills; prior EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations.
• Current RN license per applicable state requirements.
• Arizona:
  Maintains BLS competency.
• Positions not on campus may not require current BLS competency as determined by work area.
• Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Full Time – 60 hours per pay period.

Schedule Details: 3 × 10‑hour shifts per week (0700‑1730, Monday‑Friday). Orientation: 4 × 10‑hour shifts, lasting approximately 6 months.

Weekend

Schedule:

Rotational weekday call (~2 weeks) and rotational weekend call (~11 weeks).
