Position SummaryGeneral PCU Registered Nurse caring for patients recovering from surgery, stable cardiac conditions, respiratory illnesses requiring non‑invasive ventilation, or those transitioning from the ICU and still needing significant medical oversight. Patients are typically assigned a nurse‑patient ratio of 1:4.
Core Functions- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history and physical exams, including diagnostics and laboratory results; report abnormal findings to physicians and other caregivers.
- Formulate an individualized plan of care, including a discharge plan, using assessment data and input from patients, families and the health team.
- Initiate and evaluate care, ensuring patient goals are realistic, measurable and developed in collaboration with patients and families.
- Provide ongoing observation and intervention for complex medication regimens and advanced monitoring to prevent complications and support recovery.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, plans, interventions, and evaluations in compliance with organizational policies and professional standards.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff, physicians, therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in teaching and learning activities, including the Nursing Clinical Ladder Program, to support professional growth and mentorship of new or less experienced nurses.
- Adhere to agency policies, procedures and safety regulations while demonstrating sound judgment and critical thinking in all nursing decisions.
- Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential.
