Licensed Practical Nurse – Specialty Care
As a Specialty Care LPN at Phoenix Indian Medical Center, you will provide direct nursing support in one or more outpatient specialty clinics — including Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, and other specialty services. Working alongside physicians and advanced practice providers, you will assist with patient assessments, procedures, medication management, and care coordination for a diverse Native American patient population. This is a rewarding daytime role with the opportunity to develop specialized clinical skills while making a direct impact on an underserved community.
Since this is an IHS facility, a license in Arizona is NOT required.
Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care in outpatient specialty clinics (Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, and others)
- Assist physicians and specialists with patient assessments, procedures, and follow-up visits
- Obtain and document vital signs, patient histories, and chief complaints
- Administer medications and injections per provider orders
- Perform point-of-care testing (EKGs, glucose monitoring, urinalysis, etc.)
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, disease management, and lifestyle modifications
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments across specialty services
- Prepare patients and equipment for specialty examinations and procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Support infection control protocols and clinic safety standards
- Active, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in any U.S. state
- Graduate of an accredited practical/vocational nursing program
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; specialty clinic or outpatient experience preferred
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Experience with EKG acquisition, phlebotomy, or specialty-specific procedures a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Proficiency with electronic health records
Outpatient – Monday through Friday, daytime hours. No nights, no weekends, no on-call.
