Position Summary

Phoenix Children’s is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our collaborative Employee Health team. This role is ideal for an RN who enjoys building relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and values variety in their day. You’ll provide clinical care for our employees while partnering with leaders across the organization to promote a healthy and safe workforce.
This position requires a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care setting. Candidates should be confident performing vaccinations, blood draws, injections, triage, respiratory fit testing (RFT), and supporting Medical Assistants as a clinical resource. Strong venipuncture and injection skills are essential.
The role is approximately 80% administrative and 20% direct patient care. Responsibilities include employee health screenings, new hire clearances, workers’ compensation support, exposure management (including blood borne pathogen and needle stick exposures), infection prevention, and cross-training across multiple Occupational Health functions. We are looking for someone who enjoys learning new skills, adapts quickly, and is excited to become a versatile member of the team.
The schedule offers flexibility with 5/8-hour shifts or 4/10-hour shifts, with clinic hours generally between 6:00 AM and 4:30 PM and occasional administrative coverage until 6:30 PM. This role will be based at the Thomas Campus, but will also rotates to support multiple Phoenix Children’s locations, including Arrowhead, Avondale, and East Valley. NO NEW GRADS, please.

This position promotes employee health through activities and functions of the Occupational Health Program including case management of Workers Compensation claims to assure employees health and physical capabilities prior to and during employment in accordance with all applicable standards, state and federal regulations and guidelines.

Education
  • Associates degree in nursing (Required)
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Experience
  • One (1) year of technical training or additional skills training for licensure/certification to perform more advanced clinical skills. (Required)
  • Experience with Health & Safety program administration (Preferred)
  • One (1) year of experience using Windows-based software applications (Preferred)
Certifications
  • Current State of Arizona RN license (Required)
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (Required)
  • COHN certification from American Board of Occupational Health Nurses (Preferred)
Special Skills
  • Knowledge in ergonomics and conducting ergonomic surveys. (Preferred)
