Phoenix Children’s is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SANE RN to join our team and play a vital role in supporting patients and families during their most vulnerable moments. This position delivers high-quality, trauma-informed nursing care while working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary healthcare team. This is full time, and you will work 3/12-hour shifts, 10 AM - 10 PM. There is call required on the weekends, and that is 8 AM - 10 PM.

You will be paid time and one half if called in and also receive $3.25/hour for being on call.

In this role, you will conduct medical forensic exams under the supervision of our Medical Director, including obtaining medical histories, documenting the account of the assault or abuse, and performing professional forensic evidence collection. You will ensure evidence is collected, preserved, and documented according to the highest standards—all while providing empathetic, patient-centered care.

What We’re Looking For:

Current Arizona RN license (or compact state license)
BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
ADN, BSN, or Diploma in Nursing
Completion of an accredited SANE RN Peds/Adult training course within 120 days of hire
3+ years of nursing experience with children in an acute pediatric setting (or equivalent experience)
Flexibility in traveling to other satellite locations that will include, main campus, Glendale, Avondale, Gilbert, Mesa and Goodyear as needed.

Position Duties
  • Completes nursing assessment of patient conditions consistent with age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors, to determine initial level of compliance with treatment plan per policy and unit guidelines. Performs ongoing patient and family assessments and identifies variations from diagnoses.
  • Continually evaluates patient responses to care, teaching, and discharge plans. Documents patient progress in appropriate charts and shares observations and assessment outcomes with healthcare team and families to ensure timely communication and understanding of patient health status, progress, and ongoing needs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements.
  • Provides orientation to the unit, hospital systems, and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with unit’s policies and requirements.
  • Supervises patient care activities of assigned team members and delegates activities appropriate to knowledge, skill, and competency.
