Cardiothoracic Surgery RN
This position requires adherence to a 50-mile radius rule. Candidates must be available for mandatory on-call shifts. All nurses will complete skills labs for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Maintaining a sterile field is essential; candidates should be proficient in this area. If a candidate demonstrates a lack of competence in the required skills, they may not be a suitable fit.
In addition to skills labs, there will be educational components on lifts, restraints, and wound care. The department consists of multiple operating rooms, including one hybrid OR. Approximately seven cases are performed each day, with a maximum of fifteen. Weekend requirements include first call one weekend per month and second call one weekend per month. Holiday call may be required.
Floating to general OR will occur as needed. Charge nurse responsibilities may apply. Staff includes surgical technologists. Common procedures include open-heart surgery, vascular cases, thoracic surgery, and transplants. This position supports a Level 1 trauma care setting.
