Registered Nurse - Dialysis Job Summary
Provides nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis for acute or chronic renal failure. Monitors patients throughout dialysis treatment, manages vascular access, and educates patients on disease management and treatment options.
Education & Experience- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
- Prior dialysis or nephrology nursing experience (Preferred)
- Current RN license in state of practice (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
- Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) certification (Preferred)
- Initiates, monitors, and discontinues hemodialysis treatments per physician orders and protocols.
- Assesses vascular access sites (fistula, graft, or catheter) for patency and signs of complications.
- Monitors vital signs and fluid balance throughout dialysis treatment.
- Administers medications and manages dialysis-related complications such as hypotension or cramping.
- Educates patients on renal disease management, diet, medications, and treatment adherence.
- Documents treatment parameters, patient response, and care provided in the medical record.
