American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Telemetry RN for a Level 1 trauma acute care unit, requiring 2+ years of experience and Level 1 trauma background.
Details- Neuro Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital, Level 1 trauma center, 32 beds
- Patient population includes CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, brain tumor, tracheostomy, and psychiatric comorbidities
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio with charge nurse taking a light patient assignment
- EMR:
Cerner with WOWs (workstations on wheels) - Central telemetry monitoring requiring EKG interpretation skills
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
- 4 total weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage based on unit needs
- No ventilator management on this unit
- Floating required, prioritized to MS/Tele units, possibly to Westgate or AZ General Laveen campuses
- SWAT RN team available for difficult IV access
- RT and central pharmacy available 24/7
- 2-day floor-specific orientation
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required, must be active (not pending) at time of consideration
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- Neuro nursing experience preferred
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (up to 2 attempts)
- Must complete SIMs Lab competency for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Provide bedside nursing care for a high-acuity, fast-paced neuro telemetry unit with average length of stay of 4-5 days
- Administer and titrate medications such as Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem
- Participate in bedside shift report
- Complete additional education on lifts, restraints, and wound care during orientation
- Steel gray scrub color required
- Must maintain natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for respirator fit testing
- Must pass a written pass/fail exam on sterile technique during day 1 of orientation
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
- Local candidates not accepted at travel rate due to radius rule
- Candidates previously employed directly (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible
