Position Summary
We are expanding urgent care coverage and are seeking experienced APPs (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to work hybrid urgent care and low‑acuity ED shifts. The role involves evaluating and treating pediatric patients in our urgent care centers (5 locations staffed 5 p‑midnight Monday‑Friday and 10 a‑8 p on weekends) and providing evidence‑based treatment within their scope of practice under the Medical Director’s supervision.
The position supports efficient urgent care flow, patient experience, and throughput, performing procedures such as abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair with sutures, staples, and dermal adhesive.
This position works in collaboration with attending physicians and operates within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Qualifications- Pediatric experience
- Current state of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, or obtained by start date
- Arizona state license
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and non‑verbally
- Conduct comprehensive health history, physical assessment, and plan for infants, children, and young adults with acute and chronic health conditions.
- Order and prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions, and perform therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
- Formulate family‑centered plan of care and document daily as necessary. Collaborate with other team members and coordinate care.
- Collect and analyze data when necessary.
- Perform advanced procedures associated with credentials (e.g., DOP).
- Utilize evidence‑based practice; modify plan according to family needs and effectiveness.
- Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff, provider team and other health‑care teams as needed.
- Participate in professional development: maintain required competencies, certifications, and support educational offerings for residents, students, and preceptor/mentor roles.
- Demonstrate commitment to patient safety by raising concerns, reporting through appropriate channels, and ensuring change of practice.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
