Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Intake, the Assistant Director of Intake provides direction for the Intake Admissions Department in the assigned area(s) in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the Hospital and within the framework of established policies and procedures of the Department of Intake and Admissions. The Assistant Director is responsible for the clinical leadership and coordination of patient flow and staff productivity in the Intake and Admissions department.

As a key team member in the Intake and admissions area, the Assistant Director promotes a climate of effective performance through role modeling, willingness to learn and teach, and availability to patients and staff. Organizes, manages and coordinates nursing services and will assure quality.

• Assists Director of Admissions with the onboarding and training of new staff and completing 90-Day and annual evaluations by due date. Uses evaluations as a tool to motivate; assesses with impartiality.
• Evaluates the work performance of assigned staff on an ongoing basis. Reviews and monitors work schedules, work hours and staffing plans of appropriate personnel effecting changes as needed.
• Completes a thorough and appropriate medical evaluation within scope to support the admission process, ensuring all required clinical information is accurately gathered, documented, and communicated to facility staff and timely patient care.
• In partnership with the Director of Admissions, ensures department is staffed 24 hours a day and fills in as necessary.
• Fulfills the duties of Administrator on Call, providing after hours, on-call coverage for administration, as assigned per the rotating Administrator On-Call schedule.

• Current license to practice nursing in Arizona or compact privileges (out of state compact license: must apply for an AZ license within 60 days of hire).
• Master’s degree in nursing plus 1 years of hospital experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, plus 3 years of hospital experience required.
• Thorough working knowledge of Hospital, Intake/Admissions procedures, with demonstrated ability to use skills in clinical and managerial situations required.
• Management/leadership experience of a multiple disciplinary team preferred.
