Description:
This position requires ICU Float Pool experience.
Travelers must understand that they will be floated and will not have an opportunity to refuse assignments.
A well-rounded ICU nurse is expected.
Nurses need to have experience in a level I trauma center and a teaching hospital due to the complexity and high acuity of patients.
The ICU Float Pool will care for medical, surgical, and trauma patients.
Charge nurses will provide assignment sheets upon arrival on the unit.
Each unit requires participating in shift huddles at the start of each shift.
All reports are to be completed at the bedside and a quality skin assessment will be performed within the first four hours.
The float pool will require the ability to read telemetry strips and operate various types of respiratory support equipment.
Travelers are expected to maintain sterile fields and demonstrate competence in necessary nursing skills.
Holiday shifts will be required based on unit needs.
Scheduling occurs four weeks in advance and may change based on the needs of the facility.
Nurses must be capable of providing care for critical patients across various ICU settings.
