Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a Level III high-acuity unit, requiring 3+ years of L&D experience and AZ or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • Labor and Delivery unit within a Level III facility, also covering Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby
  • Patient ratio of 1-2 couplets
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
  • Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per month required (Saturday/Sunday only)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Occasional floating to Post Partum within scope of practice
  • Epic charting experience preferred but not required
Requirements
  • Active AZ or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, C-EFM, and RNC-OB
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in high-acuity Labor & Delivery, or 2 years if in a teaching or high-risk facility setting
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Skilled in sterile speculum and vaginal exams, NST, EFM, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Experience administering blood and blood products, starting and maintaining IVs, and use of infusion pumps
  • Proficient in assisting high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and managing hemorrhage/shock situations
  • Experience in postpartum care including vaginal delivery, cesarean section, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Skilled in neonatal care in the delivery room, cord care, newborn assessment, and discharge teaching to parents
  • Experience with epidural/general anesthesia and pain assessment and management
  • Prior travel nursing experience required, though first-time travelers with 5+ years of experience will be considered
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care in a high-acuity, high-volume unit
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and recovery care
  • Deliver neonatal care immediately following birth, including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
  • Support antepartum and triage care for obstetrical patients
  • Facility performs more than 300 births per month
  • Holiday RTO requests reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • First-time travelers considered if they have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Local candidates accepted only if residing 75+ miles from the facility
