Summary

The full hourly range for the position is ($19.47-$29.21) with an anticipated starting hourly rate between entry ($19.47) and midpoint ($24.34) of the range. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on factors including skills, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, training and internal equity considerations.

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Pressure Washer (Facilities Cleaning) to join our Facilities Maintenance team. This position will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of various properties including station platforms, sidewalks, parking lots, industrial equipment and vehicles, and facility building exteriors, walls, and roofs, ensuring a pleasant experience for our riders. Performs minor maintenance on tools and equipment.

Requires technical proficiency in operating pressure washing equipment, attention to detail, and strong adherence to safety practices.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. plus one (1) year of industry experience with high-pressure and cleaning equipment, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to fulfill the job duties as listed may be considered.

Medical Examination

Employment for safety sensitive positions is contingent on passing a DOT physical examination.

Background Check

Employment is contingent upon the results of a background investigation.

License

Valid Arizona driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under Valley Metro’s Vehicle Insurance Policy.

Shift

This position will typically work 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM and is eligible for 3rd shift differential pay. Successful candidates must be available to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.

Examples Of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
  • Utilizes high-pressure washing equipment to clean and maintain a variety of surfaces such as station platforms, sidewalks, parking lots, industrial equipment and vehicles, and facility building exteriors, walls, and roofs; performs cleaning services including trash pick-up/removal, facilities cleaning, equipment/component cleaning, vehicle cleaning, and cleaning for special events; handles cleaning of blood borne pathogens, drug paraphernalia, and sharp objects as needed.
  • Treats stained areas with chemical degreaser prior to washing; applies detergent safely as needed.
  • Operates and maintains company-provided hot water pressure washer and Agency vehicles.
  • Performs minor maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Orders and maintains a stock of pretreatment chemicals; installs normal wear parts that keep washing equipment operable; loads and unloads equipment from Agency vehicles; checks equipment is in good working order and has an adequate water supply.
  • Prepares job sites by securing work areas, setting up equipment, and removing hazards; clears the job site and stores hoses and equipment correctly.
  • Inspects completed work to ensure surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and meet company standards.
  • Provides reports to supervisor indicating work performed, challenges, recommendations, and action items.
  • Reads, understands, and executes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follows all safety protocols to prevent damage or injury.
  • Manages job details, reviews daily tasks, and follows up with supervisor or designee.
  • Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned.
Knowledge
  • Safe operation of high-pressure and hot water washing equipment.
  • Proper use of cleaning chemicals, including hazardous materials protocols.
  • Safety practices, hazard recognition, and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cleaning and reporting.
  • Basic maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Skills
  • Operating and maintaining pressure washing equipment and vehicles.
  • Preparing, securing, and restoring work sites.
  • Safely mixing and applying detergents and degreasers.
  • Inspecting completed work for quality and compliance.
  • Managing daily tasks, reporting work performed, and communicating with supervision.
Physical Demands / Work Environment

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, often up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and sometimes climbing ladders to reach elevated surfaces.
  • Strong manual dexterity to operate pressure washing equipment; may involve repetitive motions.
  • Physical strength and endurance to work in varying weather conditions; good vision to identify areas needing attention.

Work Environment

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including hot, cold, and rainy environments.
  • Overnight hours in public spaces and work independently.
