The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is one of the largest publicly operated shooting facilities in the country. Our world-class shooting range is a City of Phoenix Point of Pride and has received a Five-Star rating from the National Association of Shooting Ranges. Located on 1,650 acres in north Phoenix, the Ben Avery Shooting Facility averages more than 240,000 shooters per year.

The facility offers a fun and safe environment for shooters of all experience levels and strives to provide a quality recreation experience for all users.

The Rifle Pistol Range is currently seeking to fill a part-time Shooting Range Assistant position. The schedule will include working a rotating shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, outside in a noisy environment while exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, and/or dust.

Under close supervision, the Shooting Range Assistant will perform tasks associated with range safety, which include firearms safety in a public setting, and enforcing safety regulations on the rifle/pistol ranges, while performing excellent customer service.

Job Duties:

* Observes public shooting and ensures a safe and family-friendly range experience for all customers.

* Provides excellent and courteous customer service. Performs daily maintenance tasks to include emptying trash cans, sweeping brass, and assisting in the care of landscape and other facility maintenance/custodial duties.

* Assists range staff in set-up and preparation of the ranges, introductory shooting programs, shooting competitions, and other shooting sports activities throughout the season.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

The candidate must have exceptional customer service and communication skills and have the ability to interact and work with a diverse variety of customers, user groups, and employees. The candidate must have a safety mindset and be prepared to enforce range safety rules equally at all times.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate will have customer service experience in a high-volume, high-stress environment.
