Help Build the Neighborhood Animal Health Team Phoenix Deserves

At Good Neighbor Animal Hospital, we're building a neighborhood-centered animal hospital designed around a simple belief: when veterinary teams thrive, pets and families receive better care.

As we prepare to open our first Phoenix hospital in March 2027, we're seeking a Medical Director who wants to build something meaningful from day one. This is an opportunity to shape the culture, mentor a growing team, establish medical standards, and create a hospital that becomes a trusted part of the community.

This role is ideal for a veterinarian who believes strong medicine, strong leadership, and a great life outside of work should exist together.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

As the founding Medical Director, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Establish medical protocols and standards
  • Partner in designing workflows and hospital operations
  • Mentor and develop future veterinary talent
  • Shape the client and team experience from day one
  • Build a collaborative, accountable, and positive hospital culture
  • Influence the long-term direction of a growing organization
  • Help create the model for future Good Neighbor hospitals

Your leadership will directly impact the success of the hospital, the well-being of the team, and the quality of care delivered to Phoenix's pet families.

The Role

As Medical Director, you will:

  • Deliver comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care
  • Lead by example in providing high-quality, evidence-based medicine
  • Support, mentor, and develop associate veterinarians and support staff
  • Ensure consistency in medical standards and patient care
  • Partner with hospital leadership to drive growth and operational excellence
  • Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and teamwork
  • Build meaningful, lasting relationships with clients and the community
  • Help create a hospital where both patients and team members thrive

We're looking for a veterinarian who enjoys leadership, values mentorship, and wants to play a meaningful role in building a lasting organization.

Schedule Designed for Balance

We believe great leadership requires balance, which is why our doctors work:

  • 4 clinical days per week
  • Only 1 Saturday every 4 weeks
  • Predictable rotating schedules
  • Dedicated leadership time as the hospital grows
  • A fair and sustainable system that allows time for family, hobbies, travel, and recovery
Benefits for You
  • Competitive base salary and transparent production compensation model
  • Medical Director stipend
  • Long-term incentive opportunity
  • Sign-on bonus
  • Relocation assistance
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program and mental health support
  • Continuing education allowance
  • Licensing, DEA, and professional membership reimbursement
  • Leadership development and executive mentorship
  • Opportunities for future multi-site and regional leadership roles
  • No non-compete agreement
Pet Benefits

We care for the pets of the people who care for ours. Each employee receives coverage for two personal pets, including:

  • Examinations
  • Routine diagnostics
  • Vaccinations
  • Parasite prevention
  • Heartworm prevention
  • Purina maintenance diet
Neighbor in Need Fund

Every Good Neighbor veterinarian receives a $2,500 annual "Neighbor in Need" stipend to help clients access care when finances become a barrier.

No committee, no barriers, no guilt, just trust in your professional judgment to help pets receive the care they need.

Practice Where You Belong

Strong medicine should feel human. Honest guidance should feel clear. A veterinary career should still leave room for a life.
