Job Title

Perform precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance to specification.

Location:

2635

E. Magnolia Street, Phoenix, AZ

Schedule:

1st shift - Monday-Thursday, 5:00am-3:00pm

Essential Duties
  • Basic blueprint reading & shop math (Trigonometry)
  • Inspect first piece parts from manufacturing work centers
  • Collect and provide data required for critical part Final Inspection Reports (FIRs)
  • Complete customer required part to print data forms and send with parts
  • Perform in-process inspection of parts being run in Manufacturing
  • Inspect in-house and outsourced production parts
  • Review routers to ensure that upstream operations have been completed and signed off
  • Complete Discrepant Material Report (DMR) forms for rejected parts
  • Inspect incoming purchased parts from compliance to specifications
  • Inspect outgoing material for packaging and conformance to requirements
  • Perform surface plate and comparator setups
  • Fill out and file required reports, logs, databases, forms, and documents
  • Report safety or process control concerns to the Inspection Team Leader or Plant Quality Manager
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices
  • Basic CMM alignment & manual CMM measurements
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
Recommended Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

ASQ Certified Quality Inspector Certification desirable.

Education and/or Experience Required

2-5 years' experience performing in-process and final inspection preferably in a machining, automotive or aerospace business

Thorough knowledge of GD&T

CMM operation required

Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including height gauges, micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards

Visual cosmetic inspection experience required

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner is essential

Ability to understand and follow instructions

Independent; can work with little to no supervision and direction

Physical Demands While Performing the Job

Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor

Exert up to 40 pounds occasionally

Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading dial and digital gages, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and assemblies

Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify finish defects

Able to hear and understand spoken directions

Able to hear warning bells, tones, and alarms (e.g., forklift, horn, telephone, etc.)

Ability to work in clean room environment
